Planning first board - longboard for my beginner wife

Looking for a bit of guidance. I’m in the process of buying tools and building the racks to make my first board - which will be for my wife. She’s a beginner, really into it, and since this will be my first board I figured I’d build her one. (The next one will be for me, but I figured that this would be a good chance to “work out the bugs”.) She’s 5’5", and I’m wanting to shape a longboard. Any suggestions/guidance would be greatly appreciated!

I would say something pretty utilitarian (generic) like 9’ long 18" nose 22"/23"wide 14"/15" tail.

Some may say 23" is to wide for her to carry. So what, it’ll be way worth the effort in the water. 9’4" B is a great all around blank, so is the 9’1" Y, but some beginners may find the flatter nose rocker a bit scary when catching waves. Hope this helps.

p.s. first longboard I shaped was for my beginner wife!
