I have always used the standard white paper mixing buckets. Will plastic buckets from the paint store work as well (no chemical reactions)? I have tried paint and hardware stores for the paper buckets but it seems they all use plastic now. I am going to do a single color, full board (9’6) opaque lam and I figure the only way to do it is to mix both batches (deck and bottom) at once, then split into two for each side. To mix this single color batch I am thinking the standard size paper bucket (gallon size or so?) will not be big enough to hold this much (I want to make sure I have enough resin). Any thoughts or suggestions? Greatly appreciative- ole

Greatly appreciative- ole ,I NEVER buy buckets,I use what’s around.I use those 1 gal Breyer’s plastic ice cream buckets for lamming, they’re great!Just the right wall height.ALSO try the bottoms of 2 or 3L plastic Coke bottles, just slice the tops off with a box cutter. Many others containers too!Like butter,c.cheese, hallowween buckets,Dizzyland, sea world,on and on,just make sure they’re clean,no oils or waxes(no waxed cups),and check the recycle code on the bottom for a number, this will tell you if it will meltdown if you put resin in it.GOOD LUCK.Herb
Damn Herb… You got me digging through the trash now. Note to myself: Must buy more ice cream! I have used both paper and plastic. Pro - Plastic is easy to see level of resin for catayalization. Easy to clean. Negative for Plastic is they will melt from resin heating if most of the resin is not poured. Paper is durable and will take heat. The negative to paper it resin build up. go to walmart. they have 2 and 1/2 quart painting buckets for like 60 cents a peice and you can use them over and over just dump the leftover resin into an old soda bottle. austin http://members.cox.net/austinsurfboards
1 gal. milk jugs with top front half cut out. Leaves you with a handy handle too. Clean with acetone first.
