Playing with the Rockwell Sonicrafter

I wanted to if oscillating tools can be used for building surfboards. I recently purchased the

Rockwell Sonicrafter for a home project. I also used it to trim center fin boxes, FCS plugs and to sand down the rail laps. It works pretty well. As a sanding tool, it provides precise flat sanding which is great for rail laps. As a trimmer, it cuts off the fin boxes almost flush to the bottom and minimizes sanding and that funky black dust from sanding down fin boxes. It is not a required tool for surfboard building but it’s a nice to have tool.

It’s a great addition to your tool arsenal. I picked the Rockwell over the Fein’s oscillating tool because it was half the price. The Rockwell seems to be a lot more solid over the Dremel version.
