this is my first post. In the last 2 months I´ve read almost everything which was posted here on Swaylocks. Im totally stoked!! All I ever wanted to know about Boards and shaping I´ve found in this forum.
I´d like to shape a Fish (see .brd file attached). Have already started with EPS (2lbs) and made the foamhalves but did not cut the rocker and outline.
Could you please check the outline and rocker.
I try to make pics of every step I do and post them here if you are interested.
I would round out the tails - The inside of the crack but it really looks good. Do you see a little thin spot on your top deck before the flip? Double check your wide point, Are you over six inches from midpoint?
Hey Max, just stumbled across your post. sound like a great project. I am living in Nürnberg, Bavaria, and shaped three boards so far in my garage… would be great to exchange ideas if you feel like it… just pm me… here’s my last post …
This are the two halfs. Glued together with epoxy to get 2m in lengh and made them a bit thicker to fit the nose rocker…
The rocker templates with the stringer (6mm plywood) in the middle. Have no hotwire cutter so I asked my brother in law to help my out with his bandsaw…is ist the right word? You see in the next picture what I mean.
The idea was to cut along the rocker templates first but that turned out to be a bit difficult because he could only see the template on the blank half not the one under… so we planed a perfekt 90° angel on both sides first with a huge planing machine (sorry no photos) an then we simply drew the rocker line on the blankhalf and started to cut. It came out very very nice! Clean cut very straigtht and no EPS ball ripped out.
I´m lucky that my sister married this man…
The two halfes we glued together with the stringer with epoxy. He has a special press for wood which we used.
This is the press… the stringer is about 1-2mm under the foam. And the stringer is about 1/8" wider than the final boardthickness will be so I´ve something left for sanding…
hey deanbo i really like the look of this board youve designed. do you mind if i use it to build a hollow twinny? i have 2 boards on the go now but i could always do another…that shape is insaine!!!..
