Plywood keels with FCS tabs?

Hi Guys,

Long time lurker here…

Was thinking of making some new keels out of plywood and fiberglass but I have FCS plugs on my board. Would the keels snap off or would the plugs pop out? Or hopefully neither???

They actually make some–they use 3 tabs/plugs, since there’s a lot of area/force on a keel.

I’ve used 2-tab FCS keels on my twinnie and have had no problems with the plugs pulling out. The tabs, however, are solid glass… no wood.

i tried makin some by laying up 4 layers of 4 oz on either side of some plywood and it did not work at all. try laying up a normal panel for a glass fcs fin then cut yer plywood outline and glass it on the panel already laid up. that way the tab is all glass and no wood and the wood is a thin layer on the panel of the fin.
