Aloha All:
I am looking for the cutters (#43291) for my Porta Cable Versa Planer (#653). I tried searching the web but found none available for sale. If you have any insights, please let me know.
Thanks,
D

there was one on ebay a while back. Brand new in the box.
Yep, Ebay. Every once and awhile they pop up. Can you get yours sharpened?
would the blades from another machine fit, or could they be made to fit?
Do not know about that. I did have one with a Pleskunas “grit” drum. Becker used to use em. Maybe Pleskunas still has one if you can find him.
I have a nick in the blade. I wouldn’t mind finding a barrel drum type!
Only one nick? Sharpen it up and plane away. Bet you wont even notice it. I saw a company a few years ago that had some grit barrels that had the grit in a pattern similar to the spiral blades. Kinda interesting. Only problem with the full grit barrels was it took even more effort to push those beast along.
While the carbide cutters ( #43291) may be awfully hard to come by, there’s still some steel ones around ( #43288) - I found one, apparently unused, in a junk bin in a used too store last year. Stamped on the cutter itself, it was.
http://www.dewaltservicenet.com/ doesn’t explicitly say they have or haven’t got either one, just says ‘contact service center’ .
And for what it’s worth, check tool repair places - some have 'em in thir dusty back shelves.
And, anyplace that sharpens stuff ( like end mills) for machine shops can probably get the nick out of your cutter.
hope that’s of use
doc…
UncleD, check your pm box
Mahalo All for the help. I will check out all the leasds.

I have a 653 but have no spare blade due to their cost. But I do see them on Ebay often enough and I think there is a seller who seems to have some stock (has an Ebay store). I will see if I can find my notes, unless you tracked one down elsewhere (folks here are helpful enough that you may be all set already!)
