Post Pictures of your latest project - what ya been working on?

Ive been working up a rounded pin tail. She is a shorty, with a full nose and tail, a pretty flat deck that carries a good deal of volume out to the rails. The contures of the bottom start in a very subtle rolled V in the nose to a double concave through the center of the board and flat out the fin cluster, I did my first instal of 5 FCS Fusion boxes for a little versatility when it comes to finding out what goes best. I have just got the paint worked out, with an abstract dribble and squeegee job, and will be set to glass it up in the next couple of days.

@Gibeau, the paint job is a matter of taste, but that is a really nice looking shape. good job!!!

Stringer Theory Design…your brand will be STDs?

Thanks jiblet65, I am feeling pretty good about the shape. I’ll have it glassed tomorrow night after work and hopefully in the water by Monday or Tuesday. For sure, ascetics are dictated by taste but so is shape to an extent. A friend of mine was using my glassing space to finish up a couple orders and a personal stick yesterday so I decided to keep my self occupied with a little expierementation with this paint job.

Dragon board…faux vector net.  EPS #2, UPOL clear coat, buff out

you need to find some green and black fins!

Finished my vacuum bag. Made it out of vinyl furniture covering from Walmart’s. Sealed the edges with adhesive caulking. Messy work but it works. Next time will use a better caulking. The bag vacuums down good and holds but I think it has a tiny leak somewhere. Motor keeps turning on. Might be from the board itself but not sure. I’ve eliminated all the whistling leaks that i can hear. Should be good enough for laying down some veneers on my boards. As for the bag end seal, I was going to buy one of those quick lock’s from online for $12 but when they were going to charge me another $12 to ship I chose the handmade route and bought house water piping from home depot instead. Cut a slit in the blue pipe just like the quick lock and it works great, no leaks and only $5. My vac gauge came in and was messed up, showed 10"hg without pump even on so i bought one of the liquid filled. Once thats here I’m set to go.

In the first picture of your machine is that a spring running along the bottom to controle an off switch , if it is how do you adjust it .
Its a cool unit ,

Hydro_skiper, as you can see in this pic I have a spring that I can adjust that will either drop or increase the vacuum. I used a (car vacuum advance) that has a rod that moves in and out that hits the switch arm. The spring is to make it harder for the advance arm to pull in allowing more vacuum. You dont have to use a spring at all but you cant control the vacuum strength. The spring is attached to a fishing line swivel and then to a 5"threaded bolt. The bolt can be adjusted in/out to pull on spring. I used a threaded T-nut that is pressed into the wood that the bolt threads through. The fishing swivel is used because the spring wants to stay still which doesnt allow the bolt to turn. I drilled a hole through the end of the bolt for the swivel to go in.

Bluefin—  that’s an ingenious set.  Especially the use of the Vacum Advance.  Check your PMs.  Lowel

Thats fantastic. .

Do you have have a part number for the vach advance, or the modle of carburetor?

Hydro got it on ebay. Auto parts here wanted double money.

Blue-how are you keeping the pump lubricated?-J

Bryan — thanks much for those pics.  Lowel

Jrandy, The pump still has it’s oil in it. The bottle keeps it from spitting the oil. When the pump shuts off , the little amount of oil in the bottle drains back into the pump. Not sure if that is going to keep it good but it does for now. This is my first go at vac bagging so its a learning process for me. If you or anyone has experience with this setup and oil issue please give me tips. I’ve seen people on the youtube that change out the oil with motor oil. Not sure if that really helps or hinders the pump though.

My pleasure Lowel any time
