Post Pictures of your latest project - what ya been working on?

Nice Billy

First time trying a sort of resin swirl pattern. Trust me it looks better in person my camera is hopeless.

Was on my way to start the rail bands and the crap bosch planer broke.

It spat out a bunch of pieces of what looked like a belt. Then when i let go of the button, the blade just kept spinning,

so my guess the belt was some sort of brake belt. dunno? bummed…and dont want to do the bands manually, thats just a pain in the…

guess im on a little break until i can save up and buy a real planer…(crying on the inside)

anyways heres how far i got.

Adding some twin fin plugs for my sweetheart quad fish.

I’m totally new to shaping, but fortunate to find that Fiberglass Supply is just up the road from my place - almost too easy to just go pick up a blank…

Fiberglass Supply

I have two boards I’m starting - one a fish for my boy, and a mini-mal for my wife. Created my own templates in Illustrator, cut fresh templates with tempered masonite, and am under-way. Oh so much to learn.

Summer work 1:

Hey Greg, did you make that one? I like the outline lots,Still loveing the Coil fish I got from you. all my other boards are collecting dust.

Catfish!  Hey good to hear from you. So glad you love the Coil and have given it a good home. Yep, I built that bamboo fish. Haven’t ridden  it a while and am getting in touch with my fish side again. Hope to see you in the water sometime.

All the best

finished after the planer break down. taped up the rail bevel, both sides. and beveled it using my sander. worked fine.

compsand deck surfkite:

nice looking Board.

Did you use EPS Core with Veneer on Top only, or is this a full Sandwich with Wood on Top.

I´m interested in the Layup of your Board because my next Project will a SurfKite too.

Not sure how many Layers of Glass I should use, working with stringerless 1.5lb EPS core and Bamboo Veneer, to make it pressure ding resistant!?

Cheers

Spiral

love that Lemat.  So clean looking. What is that deck pad material?

all the best

Here are a couple boards I am working on now

1st- 6’ All rounder with cutlap resin tint

2nd- 5’9" Groveler with concave deck- Still roughing it out and havent finished the shape just yet. Stoked on this one!

Gotta let the typhoon blast through Japan so I can put my tent back together and get back at it!

Thanks, deck pad is corecork.

Not much time this summer, but managed to do a little bit. some of these need finishing & now the fishing season has come to an end & i can get cracking with a few more!

5’6"x 19 1/4" x 2 3/8" . 1 lb. EPS core with poplar wood deck and fabric bottom. First build for me like this, coming along awesomely. Also first time vacuum bagging. Homemade vac pump and hotwire bows worked great. Installed tri fin FCS II plugs yesterday. Now comes final coat and sanding. Poplar skin was made from 1"x7" rough cut boards cut to 1/8"x 3" then planed to about 2mm+/- . Layed down perfectly. Glassed 4 ounce under and over poplar, same for fabric.

Nice build bluefinsurf. You 'll be surprise how these build can be really effective and durable, + you can play with foam density, wood thickness and glass schedule to adjust result.

Done!!

.

Sanded. Just finished yesterday…

Got the small one finned.

Gonna go out and fin the other 3 right now.

All boards are using 4WFS with custom, homemade G10 fins in Griffin’s template.

From left to right:

5’10" twinzer groveler

6’6" twinzer stepup

7’8" twinzer / thruster minigun
