Thanks Jim,

Always good to see a classic again… and again…

Beautiful foil.

Not much of an S-deck, is it? I really like the first pic. A lot of curves going on compared to a more modern hull.

Just picked this up today (borrowed) from Nick Palandrani under his Source label.

6’6" 18 x 22 x 15 x 2 3/4, Rocker 4 1/4 x 3/4, WP 3 1/2

It really looks nice, hope there are some waves soon to see how she runs…

This new thread is really starting out NICE.

hey, Bdahs! i love it!! i tots we wus gonna be dead in the water…

nick palandrani… sweet lines on that baby!

Motif, that thing looks really nice !

wow- nick does such nice work and is a super nice guy. worked with marc andreini a lot. i can’t wait to try that thing next time there are real waves.

What’s the number on that board, I’m trying to date a few I own.

Thanks

Here are two boards that have very similar outlines. 1 is a 1969 Creative Design California Custom hull (in restoration). It’s a pulled in gun like outline. The second board is a 1990 GL Hawaiikine. The outlines, tail and even the bottom are close.

I think the order reads #1904 and it’s from '78.

Hey Steiny, are you enjoying that 8’ Andreini you posted in the old thread pages 61 & 63? My 8’ Balsa Vaquero seems to have been infused with some serious magical ingredients…

jdo2 , I have the twin to your board, its one of my all time best boards. The weight just disapers in the water.

mc. that creative design was maybe shaped by Dennis Choate the great, shaper/ boat builder.

Kirk that’s right, it paddles so fast. I have never felt such a smooth carving glide…How long have you had yours? What size/power of wave do you think it is best in?

thanks for asking- yes, i am quite happy with the andreini. i haven’t had as much chance as i would like to ride it. flat spell/heavy workload/bad timing but the times i have had it out were quite impressive. easy to paddle, lots of float, fast, very smooth. the board is super neutral- it does as asked and expected. i tend to surf crowded breaks in town and i have no trouble competing with the longboard crowds for waves. my favorite wave is rather long and the paddle back isn’t an issue on the andreini. if i can find the camera charger (whoops!) i will post a photo of all our boards together. the sun is coming up here- it looks like another lovely late spring day. have fun, be kind etc.

Wasn’t Pezman involved with these boards?

I got to meet Choate once, I was working for a boating newspaper, nice guy. I was still in the MSA when a lot of their guys were ordering his boards.

mc, it was early when I posted ( my excuse ) I thought it was Design 1 surfboard co. Your right Pez and Stu Hertz owned Creative Design. Pezman also did an article on rockers in Surfing mag that I used to shape my first board in 68 or 69. I cut down a perfect Bing that was my brothers , he was in Vietnam at the time , I took an asswhuppin later.

jdo2, Ive had mine since 02 and surfed it from 2 to 12 ft in all kinds of conditions. I mostly use the L-flex 9’’ fin or 9,5 if it gets big. Dont leave it in the hot sun!!!

Hey all new to hulls- do side bits help with backside riding in beachbreak conditions? thanks

imo yes.
