Power Pad adapter for a Porter Cable 7335?

Anyone out there know where I can get an adapter for my Porter Cable 7335 sander that will allow me to thread on a 5/8" x 11 NC thread for a “Power Pad” ??

I though almost all tools of significant size and sales came with the 5/8 x 11 thread size.

But if not any place that sells power tools should have the adapter. Let your fingers do the walking in your area.

Thanks for the ideas guys but I’ve tried most normal routes; Home Depot, Lowe’s, Ace Hardware local lumber yards, looked on-line, etc. The guys from Fiber Glass Supply up in Washington said “someone used to make them”, but currently didn’t know who or where.

I thought this might be a commonly used little sander, (recommended by Doc, and nice compliment to the larger Milwaulkee) in the Swaylock’s community.

Anyone have a line on the adapter?

Check with Jerry at South Shore/flexpad (www.southshoremfg.com) he has a adapter listed on his website. Who knows what he may have sitting around his shop. If he does not have it, he may be able to steer you to someone who does.

ran across these at fiberglasssupply.com in the “shaping tools” section:

Item # Conversion Adapters, to enable angle grinders that don’t have 5/8" 11 shafts to utilize 5/8"-11 Backing Pads.

V38-5634 Adapter from 1/2"-13 to 5/8-11 $7.38

V38-5638 Adapter from 7/16"-20 to 5/8-11 $5.33

V38-5642 Adapter from 3/8"-24 to 5/8-11 $5.33

V38-5647 Adapter From 1/4" Shank Drill to 5/8"-11 $5.33

V38-5650 Adapter From 10 mm 1.25 to 5/8"-11 $5.33

V38-5653 Adapter From 10 mm 1.50 to 5/8"-11 $5.33

but note P/Cable’s instructions that you need a different counterweight in your machine if you change the pad size, otherwise your bearings are going to get fried.

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the ideas but those adapters are for use with power drills. I decided just to machine my own at work using a 5/8 bolt and taking half of it down to 5/16 on the lathe. Not sure how it will hold up to actually use but I guess I’ll find out.
