Power pads

Is there a big difference between the soft and medium power pads. When i try and sand teh rails with teh lowest speed with my medium pad i always seem to go though in a lot of places. Will a soft pad prevent this?

Thanks

medium pad + rails = BAD

Very soft pad + 220 on rails = good

So the soft pad is worth buyin to sand the rails?

you might wanna forget a power sander on the rails ,just sand those by hand…it takes a little bit i guess but its better than messing it up…

Howzit Spazman, For rails get a Ferro soft pad 8", I've used them for years and they work great. What about the fins you wanted. Aloha,Kokua

Is this the right one. Also what grit would you recomned for the rails?

Nevermind. It wont let me put the right link on. There are a buch of different ones on the site. Are they all teh same. Just get teh 8 inch soft. What grit do you use. I will get back to you in liek a week abut the fins.

thanks

slow down the RPMS doing the rails till you dont sand thru technique braddah please do the technique dance please…ambrose… its allways getting better, getting better all the time, youve got to admit…

Hi Spaz, you need something really, really, thick and soft to do rails. The pad must be able to curve on the rail, and all power pads are too stiff for this. I use a 3" thick foam homemade pad (see archives on how to do it). I use this after I take down the tape line with a file, and only use no less than 180 grit.
