Price Pressures?

Is it me or are hand made board prices dropping?

I was at one of my favorite shops in Hawaii HaleNalu and they had 2 new (gloss coat) Parmenter Vectors a 7’0" and a 6’10" both well under $500. The abundant china made Watercooled boards weren’t that much cheaper or more expensive.

At BK west I saw a new Parmenter 9’0" and 8’0" sanded finish for under $500 as well.

I swear a couple of years ago these Parmenters would have been all well over $500.

At Laminations all their imports (Island Classics) were under %500 only the 10’0"s were over $500. Most of the locally made ones were also around the same price maybe no more than 50-$75 off. I remember when Derek and Mike Ho only rode this label I wonder what they would think now…

Could it be that the import price pressure has forced this change of making less profit or has the build process gotten that much more efficient? (yea I know Laminations uses a machine).

I know the petro-side is going up as well as the transport cost of the raw stuff out here on Matson. That’s why we hoard TP and rice when there’s a strike.

Anyway what’s up?
