How are Hawaiian print type pattern fabrics glassed onto boards. I did it once and the fabric kept trying to wrinkle up as the resin was drying. I do a lot of boardwork but this step is not working for me. I’m using cloth, not the rice paper prints. Does 4 or 6oz cloth have to be applied on top of the fabric? Thanks for any help Gregg
Make sure the fabric is 100% cotton
wash the fabric first to ensure the colors are well set and won’t run due to styrene solvent in the resin (may not matter if you use epoxy). Last time I did it, I washed and ironed the fabric flat, then “laminated” it as a separate production step. In the end, I was unsatisfied with the weight it added and the color (yellow) still ran a bit. Since then, I’ve been told to wash with some vinegar added to set the pattern. Sure would be good to be able to get a proper silkscreen or make this on my inkjet.
