probably a tough question

ok im here UNCW and doing a marketing paper on robert august surfboards. I was wondering in anyone here worked or works in a shop that sells them. i wanted to know if there is any instruction on how to shelve them (where, next to what, etc.). Also if there were any advertisments that they gave you to put up (what were they all about) and basically was there any technique to sell them or do they just speak for them selves.

my local shop does a rather poor job with their longboard section, but Robert August boards tend to sell themselves. they never last for more than a few days after a shipment arrives, and i can’t say i’ve ever seen any promotional material in the shop. one excellent piece of marketing that RA has done, though, is the interactive “surfboard selector” included with the “Step Into Liquid” DVD. after answering a short questionaire, it identifies the perfect Robert August surfboard model for you. also, the DVD and the RA website give lots of good information about the specific characteristics of the different models of surfboards and how they translate to style and performance. from a marketing standpoint, these tools are far more effective (and less costly) than a poster hanging in the window.

The guys at Surf City sell Robert August surfboards every now and then and I am sure they would be glad to help you out.

yeah thats a great point about the step into liquid i have that and forgot all about that whole thing with him.

Also i know surf city has them and i really need to go talk to them but they usually only have one or two so its not really that big of a selection, although they recently have been getting much bigger shipments.

thanks alot guys,

AL

What are you talking about? I saw a rouge band of dolpins stealing outboard motors and slashing GPS units. When I said I was going to call the Harbor Patrol they threatened me with gang rape.

Yeah right, just mucking the water
