Problem with airbrush paint leaching

Glassed the base of my first board yesterday. problem was the yellow acryllic paint I airbrushed the bottom with leached into the resin and when I smoothed the laps down the coloured resin smeared the deck of the board. How do I stop the paint from running into the resin! help.

The less paint you apply the better, just enough to cover the area evenly is your best bet. When you use the acrylic you only need to spray the rail area, top and bottom and watch the resin on the squeegee for color build up and keep it clean. Aloha, Kokua

this happened when i used alot of paint and didnt let it dry long enough. my suggestion is wait about 8 hours for all paint to dry. but its just my thought. austin

Crystalization occurs when heat from your curing lamination draws the moisture out of the paint.Aloha, Kokua

thanks kokua, I’m from england - i figure my shaping bay is damp and so > the paint is not drying properly in the damp fall conditions at the > moment. cheers! I have a hygrometer( measures humidity) in my shop and there are times it reads 110 % humidity(go figure). I shut the paint room doors and turn on a hair dryer that is hanging from the ceiling to get the moisture down and it helps in drying the paint. You could do the same with a portable heater, just don’t let it get to any flamable fumes or damp paint will be the least of your problems. Aloha, Kokua
