I am on my 3’rd gloss coat on this F_ _ _ ing board. First mistake was with oilbased marker doing mock pinlines oversprayed w/ speed spray. Gloss coat caused the pinline to bleed. OOPS! my bad. Wrong marker. After sanding off what I could I reglossed. The resin just didn’t seem to kick and set right. It displays all the characteristics of no wax in the resin. The resin has been stored inside my house with temps. in the mid seventies. The resin is about 6 months old. YES I ATTEMPTED TO MIX THE WAX BY SWIRLING THE CAN AROUND IN CASE THE WAX HAD SEPARATED! I’m about 95% sure this is all it is that the wax has solidified and separated but I’m just not sure. Thought I’d toss this into today’s discussion. JC

I know that cold can retard a reaction with resins. This stuff is so fickel! JC

wind or any air movement will screw things up. could be your problem.
Wax comes disolved in styrene. The resin maker mixes the solution into the resin. The resin sits for a long time. The styrene evaporates. The wax has nothing to bind it into the resin, and precipitates. This is why I mix my own gloss/hotcoat resin as I need it. I don’t make enough boards to use premixed resin before the wax precipitates. If you wanted to re-suspend the wax into the resin, you would need to replace the lost styrene. Then stir.>>> I am on my 3’rd gloss coat on this F_ _ _ ing board. First mistake was > with oilbased marker doing mock pinlines oversprayed w/ speed spray. Gloss > coat caused the pinline to bleed.
