We just got a big shipment of ProBoxes today and they look a lot different than normal - the boxes are slightly pitted and have brown spots on the bottom and side surfaces. It looks like a small dog with bad breath chewed on them.
I called ProBox Larry assuming somthing was wrong with the batch but he explained it’s the new ProBox ProKote process they are doing on all the boxes to pre-prep them. Apparently, the boxes are exposed to an elevated temperature for a specific amount of time and the mold release is vaporized leaving a pitted surface on the box’s bottom and side surfaces for better mechanical resin bonding.
No more washing or scuffing needed now! Just route your holes and drop them in. Even less work than before!
I say brilliant!
Here’s a pic. Notice the top surface of the box, the one you see when installed, is clean and white just like before the ProKote. Only the installed surfaces are discolored.
