ProBox Improves Installs with New "ProKote" Process

We just got a big shipment of ProBoxes today and they look a lot different than normal - the boxes are slightly pitted and have brown spots on the bottom and side surfaces. It looks like a small dog with bad breath chewed on them.

I called ProBox Larry assuming somthing was wrong with the batch but he explained it’s the new ProBox ProKote process they are doing on all the boxes to pre-prep them. Apparently, the boxes are exposed to an elevated temperature for a specific amount of time and the mold release is vaporized leaving a pitted surface on the box’s bottom and side surfaces for better mechanical resin bonding.

No more washing or scuffing needed now! Just route your holes and drop them in. Even less work than before!

I say brilliant!

Here’s a pic. Notice the top surface of the box, the one you see when installed, is clean and white just like before the ProKote. Only the installed surfaces are discolored.

Nice work Larry! Do you need a different jig though?

Deanbo,

Same exact box size, same exact install jigs. Just less time required to install them now.

Nice to see someone making the effort to make it even more convenient.

that looks great, I heard that you can get futures with probox bottoms. I love future fins but hate the install.

Can’t find that in the National Enquirer.

Must be premature? or false rumor?

Hi Otis, I don’t subscribe to the National Enquirer, they don’t have good surfing pics (-:.

We don’t carry the whole Future Line just some speciality fins to share with the ProBox base. Mahalo,Larry

MMMMMM toasty!!

Testing fin set up #5 on the new one tomorrow.

Might have to put in two more side boxes for a versa-plane fin set up.

Thanks for the heads up and great service Brian.

thats a snowboard building trick to make the bottom skin stick

they flame it so the epoxy sticks to it

good one larry

Sorry Larry,

I realized I misspelled your process after looking at my notes:

It’s ProBox Prokote

My bad :frowning:

What fin is that in the center box?

Hi Solo,

Sorry for not replying,my computer went down.

The center fin is an old boomerang style fin.

My friend gave me two of them years ago.

Works great in guns and big boards.
