…hello ???
Howzit chip, Just use a FCS plug, hey are already out there and available especially in Oz where the system came from. Aloha,Kokua
Hi Chip, good to hear from you. No plans for such a box, but it’s funny you should ask about that. I am doing a shark tooth fin for a customer right now with a smaller tab. Will post pics in a few days when done. I think it will suit your needs my friend.
Mahalo,Larry
Kokua, How are you feeling? Hope things are moving positively with your health, always nice to see you sharing the STOKE. Mahalo,Larry
yeah , thanks kokua and larry !
i just thought , if i went with THREE probox , it would look more uniform but it never stopped me before eh ? haha
i’m hoping to put at least two probox for sideys , and a finbox [for the single fin option] on the next board , a stub.
i’ll possibly go with one fcs plug per side [for herb’s “turbochargers” [and my one-tabbers] options?]
mainly though , i want to ride it as a singley stub[by]
cheers
ben
[the one tabbers with a 7" back fin , are an option i have ALWAYS enjoyed previously , hence my question about the one-tab probox , as i like how the fin(s) sit flush in the probox , [plus the cant options] , compared to fcs]
Howzit chip, I am holding in there and have had 12 rad treatments and 21 to go. As far as my suggestion for the FCS plug it was just a suggestion and probox is a great system, I mean it was invented in my home town and one of the inventors is a good friend of mine andI use it myself and it is on my newest board. so by all means use what ever system you want. In my eyes you are a great fin maker.Aloha,Kokua
thanks Mike !
and you are a FAR greater bloke than i am a fin maker …
i can’t wait till you’re back in the water so’s i can get some fins to you … all the best wishes for a COMPLETE recovery and great health !! you are an inspiration to me , and i’m sure , LOTS of others here …i like your attitude !
cheers

I checked out the pro box site and thought it was very well laid out/easy to navigate.I like how the install instructions aren’t kept secret on the website like 4wfs.I will deffinately start using probox in the near future. One question, will a futures fin fit a probox plug?
Hey man
I believe the side fins can be modified to fit…but they won’t fit as they are. You would have to cut down the length of the tab.
I dont think the center fin will fit at all. Not even if the length of the tab is cut down.
The depth of the tab on the center fin is not deep enough.
The other thing that would have to be taken into consideration is compensating for the can’t of the fin.
For example…if the cant on the fin is 4 degrees, and you insert it into a ProBox sleeve that is 4 degrees, now you have a fin sitting at 8 degrees.
Of course Larry will tell you for sure.
Just my 1.874 cents

This was a quick mod on a set I had laying around. I have been using them as a rear set on a quad for a while and they work great. Probox has 0 degree inserts if you don’t want to increase the built in fin cant but I recommend getting all the degree inserts and playing around with em. If you have a thruster and don’t want to add to the center fin just use the shallow FF box for the center and PB on sides.
Another reason I switched from FF was for an easier fin build. Here is my left over bamboo veneer from my board. 7 layers of 6oz, 6 layers of veneer. They will get 2 x 6oz all around.

Hi Jesus, Future had made some fins for ProBox, but you can modify your Future fins like Todd explained. Here are some pics of the older Future fins I did for a customer and refoiled the fins with alittle more flex than orginal Future fins had per the request of the customer.
Jesus, thank you for taking the time to check out ProBox and Welcome to the ProBox Movement!
Mahalo,Larry
Slashzilla, Nice job on the mods on the new Future base to ProBox, glade to see people like yourself thinking outside the box and engineering the New hollowed out Future Bases to ProBox and thanks for sharing. Nice job on your custom fin project, keep up the STOKE!

Altering a Futures: every time this is brought up no one seems to be complete about it.
So from my experience , you need to cut down the length of the tab and
use a belt sander on both sides of the tab to thin it down a bit to fit
into probox. Tools needed: hack saw or grinder and a belt sander.
I keep my hand on the pulse of most probox threads…
Love the system…most versatile!
However, when the word was that Futures was going to be
making some Probox fins, I kept tabs on the Futures site
and never found that to be ‘publicly’ the case from monitoring
their site. Of course, some time later, I see Futures templates
in Probox format for sale on the Probox site, which I assume Larry’s
fin company is making.
So whats the deal?
Are there or have their been some sources/outlets where I could
obtain Futures (made by Futures) in a probox format?
Or is the probox site the only place?

Otis, Thanks for your support and added tips to modifing the Future fins to ProBox.
As for Future making Fins for ProBox, they have for a small amount. But both Future and ProBox haven’t really come to some understanding where to go next. With Market’s changing in the last year we have not sat down again to see which way to go. I guess it wouldn’t hurt to have guys like you give Future Fins your input on this matter, because the job of companies like us are to give the surfing community the best to make their surfing experience a better one.
Good Question Otis, Mahalo,Larry
the only reason I had some affinity for Futures fins were because of their
‘Big Guy’ fin offerings: F6, FAM2 especially **,
some either had a wider base or more depth than typical FCS offerings
but they discontinued the F6.
FCS had the Occy Fins and GR(Rusty), but it seems both those had been discontinued
and then rather recently FCS resumed production on the Occy Fin.
Seems the larger ‘Big Guy’ fins are somewhat neglected by all the fin companies.
hi there,
i struggle to understand your comment that 4wfs installation instructions are kept “secret” when we have a whole section on our website www.4wfs.com dedicated to our various installation guides even DIY…
Here’s one of them: http://www.4wfs.com/index.php?p=install-ro
All the info is there to view.
regards
deano
Larry’s made me some custom fins with my size in mind.
With the ProBox guy also being the FIbre Glas Fin guy your fin options for that system are boundless.
