Since I have an order for two exact boards from the same file: 5'9" x 18 7/16" x 2 5/16" round pins @ 26 liters
1. Molded EPS and KK RR EPOXY Fussion Fin Boxes
2. PU US RED and SUN CURE POLY Fussion Fin Boxes
Phase #1. Cut both blanks from the same file board #1 = 2.0 pounds #2 = 2.5 pounds post finished shaped
More to follow:
This should be good,
Are they for the same rider?
They are for the same rider who is constantly filmed and a regular at LOWERS.
I will compare this test with the last test to obtain resin adsorption rates,.
The rocker numbers are X'ed out because this file was created by a digital scan and the nose and tail were level so the numbers will only confuse. I look at the rocker in two dimentions: Level Z (Computer Value) and Shapers Value (Rocker Stick)
Cool! Looking forward to rider comments and pics/video.
YEEEEAAAAh SURRFDIIINGGG! When I come back to cali this next winter I am buying you some tacos.
Glassing Today. Here is a pic of Tom riding the same exact model:
SD, that is quite a nuggety 5'9.
How do you approach the difference in thickness of a scanned glassed board and the blank which is probably 1/16 - 1/8 thinner.
Do you cut the board the same size as the scanned glassed one and then sanding reduces the thickness enough to account for the glass. Or do you reduce the foil of the computer file so that glassing will give the correct original thickness?
Let’s say I scan the board (I like to capture the foiled rails and finish shape).
The board comes in at 2 5/16. I will cut the new file at 2 5/16" once I clean the stringer and finish shape I’m right back to 2 5/16 after glassing.
You can make pretty good files from scratch however once you finish a board completely and test surf it and it’s magic you better scan it for repeatablity.
I have made over 50 boards of this same model. Guy’s are ordering 2 at a time? A Swallow Tail and a Round Pin version.
To answer your question: Yes I cut it the same has the scan. From there someone may order 2 1/2 instead of 2 5/16 or a 6’0 x 19" x 2 3/8". Once you have it on file the possiblities are endless.
Having my own machine I put more cutting lines than the normal cutting house and increase the narrowing to have a finish rail. On Swaylocks the machine is hated however it’s only a tool and you are still shaping. You can make a board just as horrible with a CNC as you can a Skil 100.
Kind regards,
Surfding
Tom is getting ready to test pilot these boards. Here’s the lastest cover of Aladin:
is this the first time he ordered the same board in eps and poly ?
2nd Time
The first time two exact boards one PU on EPS Swallow tail
This time two exact boards as the first only round pin versions.
More information next week.
