I have a bud who’s looking to get one 6’10 or so in length.
He’s 200 pounds.
Anyone ride one?
Thoughts?

Made almost that exact thing about 10 years ago. Made it out of an ultralite 6-11R. The fin setup I used was a twinzer setup with a center fin ala Rusty C-5. Double ender 14N and T and about 20 to 20.5" wide dead center with a squash tail. Went really well. Didn’t keep it very long, but fun while it lasted.
Some of the answer depends on how you define ‘‘egg’’. If you’re talking about a classic egg, low rocker,
soft or 50/50 rails, rolled bottom; I haven’t done that in a 4-fin. If you mean a roundtail, full nose, more
contemporary rocker, hybrid type rails and bottom; done that with excellent feedback. I’ve also done some
diamondtail 4-fins that size that the customers swear by.

I have a 2+1 egg type one in rescource 7’0 it could be a quad if need be.
There was a shaper at Sacred Craft (Mast Surfboards was the label) and he brought a quad egg to the show – looked the bees knees.
He called it the “Fish Egg” because it drew from both designs. Lokbox Speed Dialer turbos, too!
These are the only pix I have, sorry

Thanks for the pics…looks interesting.
FWIW, the guy wants more modern performance in small waves so I’d assume more modernized design features, hence quad fins.
I guess I’d recommend to him a speed egg…with plenty of tucked under edge.
I bet this guy’s design is one of the better quad eggs out there right now…

Keone Downing talks about the Downing Slippah models:
6’3" model:
“The 6’3’ ”Slippah” was developed from a personal need for a more multi-faceted short board. Tired of “hopping” in mediocre conditions, I began to develop a short board that would get to speed quickly and go as vertical as one could imagine.
Two Years of development followed and “da Slippah” was born. Simply, it’s a Versatile, high-performance short board that works in really good or not so good surf.” 6’7" model:
“The 6’7’ ”Slippah” is the secret weapon for larger or intermediate surfers, looking for a powerful shortboard that excels in everyday conditions. Concave entry blends to vee, planes up quickly and offers plenty of drive and speed.
The Tri/quad fin option allows you to FINE tune to the conditions. The performance and versatility of “da Slippah” make it an excellent choice for where ever you may surf .”
I have a 6’8" custom PU version and it’ll float 200lb easy only difference is that mine is a thruster because it was made 4-5 years ago before quads became so popular…Still works though as funky looking as it is. It even rode supahdupah with a harris 3d redtip rear and webber curved crvs up front. Not a down the line fishy for sure.
Sharkbait is in the process of making his own 6’0" lowes crazy boyz special wood lam version of his 6’0 PU Downing slippah…
Every time I look at this board I have to get a mop to clean the drool off the floor

I have a clarkfoam 69A and I’m sorely tempted to give this shape a go as much as my head tells me to continue with the compsands.
Yeah these last few examples are quite sexy.
Planshapes and fin setups look super.
Altho, Im partial to lower rockered boards.
Too much bottom curve is very speed sapping.
I was watching some late 70’s early 80’s surfing on the glass toilet recently and Buttons was getting super fast and loose on this short rockerless twinny…so progressive…he was so far ahead its rediculous. I remember when I was starting out, he was the shit. Hawaii’s own Kelly.
Keep’m coming!
Check out the Bing Synchronizer featured on the proboxhawaii website.
Not quite an egg, but … interesting.
Here’s an example of a quad egg that I shaped for a friend. It’s 6’4’’ x 21’’ x 2 1/2’'. Very fast and loose. Really fun to ride…

This is a 7’0" I ride from time to time Bonzer setup, and I also ride this 6’10" quad. I ride the quad more often because it’s much lighter but enjoy them both.

If you want a really good quad, check with ACE . Ive been riding his multi fin eggs since 1992, they work.If the guy is 200 lbs, might want to check out the Butterfish
That slippah looks awsome. It's foiled out nice. Anyone else doing this type of board here in the states? Next summer I want one.
