hello fellas,
whats your opinions about to put bigger rear fins and “average” (in size) ones in front?
for a performance 6 boards looking for quick response
I dont talking about Twinzers here
thank you

sheot no. youll loose alot of drive and your board will be tighter than a crowded pipeline takeoff zone. stick with big in front and small rear unless your going twinzer.
As I under it, with that set up you would get more drive and less manuverability. Maybe Larry from Probox or the lockbox guys can chime in.
…hmm I see
but Im thinking that a 6´ board with 14´´ tail with smallers in the rear may be dont hold tight when the surf up…
i am no expert but I think it will hold fine with smaller rear fins:
here is why:
Think of your board during a turn, quads have two fins on the rail where as thrusters have on on the rail and 1 in the middle.
the distance from the tip of the middle fin to the rail is greater so if you have 3 x 4.5" deep fins in a thruster, you will actually have less fin in the water during a turn then you would with a 4.5" front fin and a 3.5" back fin if that back fin is only 1" off the rail (they are usually in that ballpark)
see? .
i have a quad with rears are double foiled 2 degree cant
the board is plenty loose with full size trailers
…but the speed dialer set up have the rears with area…and also have a wider tail; so one can think that is more difficult to loose the board…but not
i think that the speed dialers (if they were small front and big rear) would be for more fast, down the line waves that are primarially barrels and carves, as opposed to a snappy/ throw-your-board-around beachie or slower wave. I have a 5’8" quad with a 4.25 in front and a 3.25 in rear. the front has a lot of rake and a wide base. the rear has a really small base and is basically a straight up and down fin. it holds in fine when i need it too (holds in better than my thruster), but its still easy to throw around. Now that i think about it, larger rears would add drive but like i said earlier, i think it woild be really stiff, because the fin is farther away from the pivot point of the board.
