Quad / thruster options on a pintail????

Swaylockians!! Question. I am thinking of acquiring a Takayama scorpion ( or similar ) I was all keen and geared up and  ready to go when a mate threw this spanner in the works… He suggested that for a quad to work properly it needs a large tail area. This obviously isnt the case with a scorpion ( pin tail) . I appreciate that with any board where you have a number of fin positions you wont get the best outcome for each,  more a compromise. In short do they work???

Thanks …all and any thoughts welcome.

Ps thanks for the advice on the wetsuit issue in anaheim area ended up at santa ana ripcurl Bargain !!!

The Mavericks and Jaws paddle crew seem to think so.................so does Tom Carroll http://www.surfline.com/blogs/talking-design-the-board-blog-with-rusty-preisendorfer/rusty-looks-back-at-the-history-and-evolution-of-quads_38953/

hi "TB123" !

....how about ....

five sets of plugs ... to allow quad AND thruster options , if you are unsure ?

[I'm still thinking of doing the same , on a couple of my pintail thrusters]

edit:

as I didn't know the scorpion board , a google search brought up this ...seems they are often made as quads , so....??? question answered ??

[maybe sometimes we need to ignore our 'mate's'  'opinions' ,  eh ? ..and try out stuff for ourselves ]

 cheers !
