what’s the difference between THE DEVICE and the SUPERNOVA?
I was down in Malibu on Sunday to watch the “Call to the wall” longboard contest. One interesting thing I saw for the first time was a Cooperfish w/ a fin b0x. Mario Quiros, the nicest guy you’d even want to know, had a finbox in his board. His wife said she had the first one that Gene had put in. Besides versatility, it made traveling easier. I never thought I’d see it, but it made a good thing better.
and what about the NOSE DEVIL…where does that fall into the mix?

Soulstice - According to Gene, CF company owner the former MYM, Comet, Nova and S-Nova have been discontinued and replaced with new models. See copy&paste below
Like you I wish the CF site would be updated with the latest definitive models, descriptions, construction materials and options and recommended uses. This would be most helpful to those of us not based in So. Calif. I understand that the owner/shaper has all the business he can handle - CF are considered by most as the de facto best boards built.
If others other than Gene who appears to be maxed out timewise can share the above info that would be appreciated. The readers on www.longboard.net would also be interested.
"hi josh, thanks for the interest in the boards and thanks to the others for the kind words. i’ve been a little busy and getting in the water some so site updates have been limited to pictures of new boards.
here’s a quick update. i’ve discontinued the mello yello and the comet to make way for some new models. the nova and supernova are next on the chopping block because i believe the newer “malibu foil”(mario quiros model) covers those two and is the next step in that genre.
the “malibu foil”, the “v bottom”, the “device II”, and “the burner” are the new models. they’re well tested over the past year or two and i’m excited about them. give me a call if you want a rundown josh, i’m updating the site slowly to reflect the changes.
to clarify model inspiration, my personal approach is to use the features that were standard in the late 60’s and mix and match into something new based on the desired outcome. research and development(surfing) and feedback from friends and customers is what keeps me stoked on making boards. "
just buy one of jim phillip’s boards…you can’t go wrong.best value on the coast.
