my name is Philipp, I´m 21 and I´m located in west Germany, far far away from the ocean…I began shaping my own boards last year, all with home depot EPS and epoxy.
I´ve been reading here so long and learned so much, even without one single post. Its a great forum with so many great shapers all over the world.
But now i ran into some problems with the fin choice of my new board #4 (ok my brothers new board). He will ride it mostly in french beach breaks. the dims are 6`4 x 19 3/4 x 2 7/8. It has low thin rails but lots of volume in the stringer area.
What do you guys thinking, should i go with a thruster or a 2+1?
I have no clue…
Thank you very much for any advice, whether the fin config or the board itself.
Greetings Philipp
PS: if you find some mistakes, collect them and send them to my english teacher
Wow, Nice stringers! Did you glue that up yourself? let us know.
For fins, check out the ProBox on the move thread. I had the same issue. I decided on the ProBox Versa set up; that way i can ride as a quad, thruster or 2+1.
and thanks benny for your german reply, and guys benny is correct when he writes “weiß” but on the american keyboards, there´s no sharp S like its called here.
I´ve forgotten to say that I´m using the FCS system, which is even difficult to get here.
I have a set of 6 plugs here for a thruster but I think i´ll try to organize a box. Maybe I can use the center plugs as twinzer plugs for small leading fins… but a quad+1 sounds also good to me… confusing
yes I made the blank completly alone, pressed the stringers and glued them up. I´m pretty stoked about that board, should go well. But now I´m waiting for the resin so I began #5… planned is a shortboard for waves up to 2m (6 foot), but I think I´ve to read a bit more about rails and concaves.
