Question for Kokua or...?

Hey Kokua, Always value your insight into issues about laminates. Researched into the archives but I couldn’t find info on this particular question. Anyway, I plan to go back home and have Aipa shape me a board soon. Want to print out a flower band (computer or screen - haven’t decided). Probably a light “background” color - i.e., yellow. Question. Can another laminate - Aipa’s logo - be laided over the flower band lam? Ben’s laminate will be black and red. Will this cause any problems for the glasser? Or should I just print out two separate lams for either side of logo and trim off excess. Mahalo.

Howzit Kboy, 1 possibility would be to design your flower band on your computer then scan a copy of ben’s logo and super impose it on to the flower band. Otherwise I don’t see any problem with putting both lams on at the same time other than one of the lams shifting position. Talk with your glasser about it and get his feedback. Aloha, Kokua

Thanks Kokua. Sometimes I wish I could have you walk me through the print process. The idea about scanning Ben’s logo with my design may work great. Got to get Ben’s permission before startin’ that project though. Where are you sourcing your paper from? I believe you once mentioned that it was from Japan and thicker than what most people use. Thanks again.

Howzit Kboy, The rice paper I use is from Japan and I buy it at a Office Equipment and supply store in Lihue. I buy about 12 rolls a year so the store makes sure they have the rice paper in stock for me. The rolls are 11" wide by about 60 feet long, which gets me about 85 sheets per roll. Kboy, do you live on Oahu? if so try one of the craft or office supply stores, if they don’t have it on hand they should be able to get it for you. Aloha, Kokua

Hilo born but grew up on O’ahu (Kailua side). Livin’ and working on the mainland for now. Planning to go home for a visit soon, visit family, talk with Ben about a new board, surf…will try to see what’s available out in Town. Thanks again Kokua.
