question for the Ding Guru's

I need a plan of attack for a long maybe, 3 foot long, pressure type of ding running along the bottom of the board. I don’t think the that the glass has been badly comprimised, it’s just a long, deep channel – maybe 1/2" deep, running accross the bottom at 45 degrees. It was caused by the rider screeming down the line at mach3 and encountering an unnepected late drop in by a novice on a heavy log. The offender pearled and then turned turtle to avoid bodily injury succsesfully but the rider’s board skated over the upturned rail, leaving this nasty long pressure dent. At least nobody got hurt.

Should it be fixed? or left alone? If left alsone i fear it will eventualy cause a delam. Will it affect the ride? Anyway it’s ugly and would like to take care of it if I can. Asthetics are an issue but functionality and structure are really key. Hopefully this is a repair that can be done withour adding lots of weight.

Mahalo. Thanks for listening and thanks for sharing your wisdom.

rough sand the depression

fill with a resin/Qcell mix

one layer of 6 ounce over it, wet surface.

lightly sand and finish coat.

Really, though, if you mix the Qcell a little on the wet side you won’t have to do anything more. Depends on your mental demans for how nice you want the result.

Yah, i’ll agree exactly, though I figure the glass on top will prevent cracks and maybe keep it from serving as the focus/trigger of a possible future break.

Sneaky tricks- if ya use wax paper squeegeed onto the filler mix and carefully remove when it’s just gelled, that can save ya a lot of sanding.

hope that’s of use

doc…

Thanks so much guys. Much appreciated.
