Question for you Glassers

Will spackle patches affect resin tint?

Lee, I’ve tinted boards with spackle patches and yes, the patch is apparent under the tint. kirk

I’ll ditto that one. the spackled area usually appears like, well, a spackled area. It’s sort of a ‘damned if you do’ because if you don’t fill in the hole, more resin builds in that spot, usually coming out darker than the surrounding area.

Try granular sugar to fill the hole. It sparkles like foam, and has a nice texture. But don’t get it wet, if you do it will brown out the surrounding foam. You can mix it with the tinted resin and glass as usual, makes a nice patch job. -Jay
