question on rocker #'s

I’m working on my first board, a big guy thruster to be used in 3’- 7’waves, looking for good paddling/wave catching , speed down the line and more of a carving type of turn, rather than getting vertical. The board is 7’1” (12.5 x 20.75 x 14.75 round pin)

As for rocker I was going to try 5 .25 NR and 2 .25TR, I used a 7’3”R and took an inch off the tail and the rest off the nose so I won’t have to do whole lot to get there. I was going to stay with a flat bottom because I want to keep it simple, (and I’m not sure how to add Vee or concaves anyway LOL) Do these rocker numbers look OK? Any suggestions or insight from the more experienced board builders

I’m about 185 lbs if that matters

Thanks !

those numbers look OK to me, but for your first board it’s probably more important to focus on keeping the bottom clean and smooth (no herky-jerky transitions) than it is to aim at particular nose & tail measurements. Just keep looking at it from different angles, change the lighting occasionally, put it down and look at it again in the morning. Use your Mark 2 eyeball…if it looks like a surfboard to you, it’s probably going to work ok, even if your ruler says to take it down another 1/2 inch.

Oh, yeah - don’t stress, have fun making it…
