Question re pearlescent acrylic.

Board(10’) is glossed and sanded but not compounded or polished. Owner has decided he would like rail bands done in “Galactic Blue” pearlescent acrylic paint. He provided 2 oz. of prepared airbrush paint. I have not shot apearl before. 1.What base would be used with a pearl? 2.Is 2 oz. enough if a base is used? 3.What size tip should I use in the brush? 4.Any thoughts on clearing the paint and blending to the existing gloss? Thanks for any help. Patrick

I have no answers for you other than you should talk them out of that one. If they wanted colored rails they should have informed you prior to finishing 98% of the board. my 2cents Drew

I did one on an 8 foot nose rider faux abalone pearl, I actually applied the paint prior to the gloss coat to get more separation off of the painted blank. It was an experiment that worked o.k. not as much opalecence as i’d have liked but that was more the background color than the opalecent paint.
