Senor–what sort of dims for that board?
I post em tonight when I get home.
that’s exactly what I did at 18 yrs. old
edit - me along with a million others
The thing i learned surfing weak waves in NJ, was no matter what as soon as one gets to their feet get that quick first pump in and it helps a ton especailly backside. I am a kook so take this with a grain of salt. All the design deals have been spelled out, wide tail, concave, bigger side fins and a smaller trailer, lower nose rocker, harder rails etc, all help.

Hunter,
If you ever get the chance, try Yancy Spencer’s fish. It’s not a fish in the true sense but more of wide nosed, flat bottomed, swallow tailed thing. It works unreal in anything up to head high, and I mean ANYTHING. Yancy has decades of experience shaping for small miserable conditions in Florida and he really has the board wired. I use mine with the Futures FT1 twin setup w/trailer. One quick pump and your flying through your first section. I took mine out twice today, this morn in chest high point surf and later at lunch in pitching chest high beach break. I’ve forgotten how much fun that board is. He makes it in PU/PE or you can get the dreaded Boardworks version (which is what I have) and that’s insanely light.
Yancy does not shape. He surfs good, but he is not a shaper. Forstall did the first ones and they looked and worked the best of the lot.
Might sound strange but for me fitness is critical. If you only surfing a few times a week then try swimming a few Km or half a mile on the other days and you will be amazed at how much more power and control you have. You said you skate so that keeps your legs strong and yoga for flexability. I like a wide shaped quad with H2 fins or glass flex for small surf, but I guess it’s personal preference.
I post em tonight when I get home.

Forstall has changed his fish template due to the quad shapes he’s been doing to keep up with popular demand. I’ve been riding his older model as a twin with his own template twin fins from Rainbow and IMO is better than Yancy’s shape. I’ve ridden that also. 6’2, 16" x 21" x 16" at 2 5/8.
Wow…O.K., then props to Forstall. His quads look insane.
BTW- I forgot about getting the dims. I’ll try to remember today.
flat and wide is fastest.
