Quick Question - Fiberglass over Resin patch needed?

So my router jumped while routing my first center fin box. (Gotta love this learning business LOL)

Anyway, I have color matched and filled the hole with polyester resin/cabosil mixture. I think I hid the defect pretty well. Pic attached.

Sanded

Question: Is this water tight or do i have to add a fiberglass patch over the box for this to be water tight? I don’t want the board to absorb water over the years… I’m also ready to be done with this board and onto the next, so prefer to not patch it!

I would say that just resin should suffice, as the fiberglass itself is not waterproof and only the resin is. However, if the gash is large enough that you think the pressure from the water could move the box around, then it may be worth a patch. It looks to be such a small bit that was affected, maybe do an extra bit of resin and sand it smooth. These boxes typically aren’t fiberglassed over like others, so you shouldn’t have to worry.

Music to my hears! Thanks for the reply
