quick single fin Nugget question

midway through a 6’3" 17x20.5x14 nugget like shorty. tried the archives and all that but couldnt find anything on it. looking for fin placement

With such a wide tail, should my fin box placement reflect this? I believe that 11-13" up to leading edge is standard for singles. But i reasoned that with a wider tail it might make sense to move it back a little. I have the 10.5" box, so that will leave me with some play.

Anyone have a single nugget?? or experience with this kinda board. thanks a ton.

also… what kinda fins you guys ride besides the star fin?

14 is a wide tail? If it were a Nugget, the 17 & 14 would be reversed.

Maybe they are, and you were writing the dimensions from tail to nose?

My 7’1" Nugget is 14-22.5-17.5 and the back end of the finbox is at 6" from the tail. Hope that’s what you’re looking for. The fin is always solidly at the back of the box and if it could go back another inch, I’d put it there. But I surf mostly single fin heavy logs, so I like to step back & pivot…

Try one of Geoff McCoys Gullwing fins - they are a great match for the Nugget. I think Solosurfer sells them.

It is finished. I will post photos if you or anyone else is interested. (McCoy 7’4"x19 3/4"x13 1/2"Tx12 3/4"Nx3" Semi-gun). In a separate thread of course (sorry for dragging this thread off topic already).
