Quiver help

Hey everyone,

I just built myself a mini simmons 5’3 x 22 1/2 x 2 3/4 and a fish 5’6 x 21 3/4 x 2 3/4. Both glass on twins. The mini simmons work good for me in small waves & the fish works good for me in small/medium surf. I need help choosing a board for head high to maybe double overhead waves. I live in Santa Cruz so the waves in surfing have pretty good shape. I’m look for alternive to standard shortboard and something that’s gonna have similar glide to my beloved twin fins. I’m thinking a quad fin mini speed egg with a simi pulled in jam-jarred noes around 6’2 x 21 x 2 3/4 but I’m also think a 2+1 widowmaker fin set might be the call. Please help me pick the right design. I attached pics on my simmons, fish for reference and a tyler warren egg that I might design my next board after. Thanks

If you are looking for some feed back that egg looks like it would be really fun board.  Give some thought to a bonzer  fin set up. Check out the bonzer eggs from Gary Hanel and the Cambell Brothers. Mollusk Surf Shop has a lot of photos worth a look. Whatever you build have fun.

yep go for a high performance egg. I have been shaping a ton of them they are so versitile. My skinny egg (step up) is 6’0x19.25x2.3 and I ride it up to double over at the Honalua Bay. After that I am on a 6’5 skinny egg due to the amount of water moving around.

If you dont want to deal with the bonzer bottom look at neal purchase jr 2+1 set up. I just used it in 2 boards for big indo and a 5’8 egg for a all around board

Max McDonald does a nice Bonzer, shaped for Merrick for 5 years and contributed the elevated wing with the Cambell Bros. If Santa Barbara is not too far I would contact Max. Not sure who shaped this baby blue wonder, but the elevated wing is nice.
