I was watching the shaping 101 video and when JC does the rail bands he says you start your planer at zero and then open it up and then back to zero. This is done with a planer that can be adjusted on the fly, but the planer i have can’t do that so how do i do the rail bands with out being able to adjust my planer? Thanks, Kamahele
What I do is start with a small runs about 2 ft long in the miggle of the rail.
Then each run I add about 6 in to the run from nose to tail until I end up with my rail band the whole length of the board.
I have marks on my rail at center and 12 in from nose and tail and plane until I get close to my marks.
I then finish off with a sanding block to get them running nice and clean.
Hope this helps
Cheers
