Pick up a Chapstick package at the drugstore and look at the “rail channels” added just inside the edge. The really stiffens up the whole package which is otherwise rather flimsy. (Cut out the material inside the channels to see just how flimsy).
Rail channels; good enough for Chapstick, good enough for surfboards.
