Random obs from Byron Bay near the end of 08.

Just spent the morning at Byron’s best pointbreak, the Pass.

Having flown over it the week before I’d noticed the outrageous sandbank there : almost a mile of ruler edged shallow sand.

There will be 20 second tube rides there on the next swell.

Anyone in Oz for this summer should not miss it.

Anyway here’s a few random pics from a shitty 6 second windswell day. Water 75. Air 85.

I saw this bloke styling on a few beauties.

Turns out to be a hull. 8’4".

Big flexy fin, the whole ball of wax.

My daughter got a few on the inside.

This is right down the inside, about 8 or 9 hundred yards from the take-off.

It’ll be a full Maalea/Kirra section on any given swell.[/img]

That there is an el-eye-ay-a Jim.

Round the corner was a classic old car with a bunch of single-fins sticking out.

I went inside to get my wife a coffee and it was pretty spooky.

It was like a North Korean scientist had cloned exactly half-a-dozen Alex Knost’s.

Too cool for me so I went home and drank a beer.

I’m on my way!!! Wish… Mike

wow cool pics! its been 8 years since i was there. and i remember around 2000 there was a few big swells that pulled alot of the sand out from around the wreck . and a friend was telling me that because of the jettys built up and down the coast they allow the swell to gouge out alot ofthe sand banks. has it gotten any worse around that area?

Hey Steve

Cool shots, love the one of your girl got a few of those myself of my girls.

How did Sage go on the finless in those sucky little ones, trim de jour.

Sand comes and goes but right now the Points have some of the best sandbars I’ve ever seen.

If you got the deniro and see a cheap ticket it would be a good season to come.

Steve

Was that Sage Joske? Didn’t see him catch any…had been getting cooked in the sun so didn’t hang around long after he showed up.

Steve

Hey Steve

Yeah that was Sage Joske and I reckon it would have been show whether He was on the finless , fish or log on that sandbank. Great surfer and a real humble bloke.

His oldman is a legend as well

Too right, Paul is a gentleman.

The fruit did’nt fall far from the tree.

Young Heath Joske has been blowing up in the pro juniors too.
