remaining clark blanks on oahu

Hey Kokua, sorry i’ve been offline for so long, computer died… i got 4 longboard blanks last week, Ted told me i’d probably not get anymore… he said he’s ordered blanks from Brazil that will be here around the end of Feb…i’ve been kind of paralized since this all started, can’t even work on the 4 blanks that i have… the shop i work for took in a big board delamination for me to work on, that helps , i was only makingn 4 to 8 boards a month anyway… did i understand you to say that nobody on the outer islands is getting any blanks?, that would be pretty rotten…we are realizing that we all take care of ourselves first, that feels kind of bad, but is a good thing to keep in mind i guess…i think my computer is back up now, let me know if i can do anything for you here…the shop i work for sells Linden surfboards, so Craig, t he owner is talking to Linden about walker foam, and they seem to be having a little problem teaching the nationals how to handle the recipees… that i heard last week… see ya danny

Howzit Danny, Did you fax them your wish list to get those blanks or just go to F.H. and get them. We are in limbo and depending on who we talk to at F.H. we get different answers. But if they don't sell us any blanks they won't get any materials orders from us either. I hate bugging them but I guess I'll have to call and see what's up. Maybe they don't want to hassel with the shipping, but I was going to bring in materials with the blanks and that should have encouraged them a little. Aloha,Kokua

Howzit Ambrose, Dave Implomb was by the other day and he had just talked to Lewis at F.H.and they will be sending us some blanks after the 20th of Jan. One thing Dave said was when he talked to Lewis, lewis was asking him about some of the board buiders on Kauai and how many boards they did a month. Then Lewis told Dave that I was one of their best customers and at the top of the list so it looks like I may get some blanks. Hope you get some to, I also sent a list for BASA. Aloha,Kokua

Howzit Danny, Just got the call from Lewis about blanks and they are basically out of gun and longboard blanks except for some seconds which they call seconds because they are pretty old but he has a 9’9" W blue ckassic I want to make a classic out of and they are sending me a fax list of what else so I can pick from it. Aloha,Kokua

Good for you Kokua,i’ve felt kind of paralized since all this happened…i got 4 blanks from fiberglass hawaii… Ted says he has a container of foam coming from Brazil i think, should be here at the end of feb…again i think that’s accurate… it is in their interest to find foam for those of us that are stubborn enough to want to keep using the same materiels…we will see what turns up… good luck on the blanks!..danny

today is the day

the blanx could be on todays barge

like the old horse that pulled the milk wagon

when the truck left the dairy

the horse followed allong side uphill from inside the fence

look it up " milk horse "

it wasnt about a horse that ate milk

it wasnt a horse that was a producer

it just transported milk from dairy to front porch

the milk man delivered the milk

and in conrad’s case

then he went surfin.

an american Icon

immortalized in lyric and memory

“the milk man’s on his way”

means the sun is coming up.

so the ride to the peir to pick up the blanks

through the gate.say hello to the guard.

there didnt used to be a guard

say hello to the girls in the office

the office was smaller

and the checkers wer all over in there

load the blanks

one time I got 27 of em on my cougar station wagon

good days

the guys that sold their

loved life will never get it back

I never sold my hanalei

I never sold my anahola

I never sold my favorite boards

so I still have em all.

I’m not selling my last trip to Young Brothers Barge

for any price.

but Im sharing the anticipation with you.

can you feel it?

I might sell the boards I make from these blanks

I might make them a set

of crowning jewels befit for a monarch

not a butterfly

but a king

on second thought maybe

making them for a butterfly would be more fitting.

Butterflies

they are so light weight

they soar on the winds light

and disapear into flowers only to emerge

into the wind and float on to the next flower.

when they are gone we may not miss them

but when they come back

again next year we easily recognise em.

what does this have to do with surfboard design?

nothing

except when you see a butterfly passin by in the line up

over head way out on the reef

imagine the butterfly looking down

at the guy on the surfboard

or the butterfly

looking down on the truck

filled with blanks

on the way back from the peir

with the YOUNG BROTHERS

TIDE CALL - ender

on the dash board

in between gumby and Bhudda

also rresting in peace on the dash

Howzit Ambrose, The blanks were sent in a container and wrapped. Sausen, myself and stevie lis all had them sent together to hopefully cut the shipping cost a little. Hope you get the ones you want. Kind of surprized they didn’t send you an invoice since we all got one. What Victoria blanks are you talking about, are there some here, Ian Vernon and Sausen are bringing in a container from Aust next month, think they are South Coast blanks.Aloha,Kokua
