remaining clark blanks on oahu

Hey everybody, if you want to try and get any of the clark foam that’s left on Oahu, here’s what’s happening…

Send a list of what blanks you want to Fiberglass Hawaii here on Oahu with your name and contact info., Mr. Clark has asked them to distribute the remaining blanks for him…their fax number is 841-2108, phone number 847-3951…the blanks will be distributed in an orderly very controlled way, we will all be notified as to what we can purchase and how we want to pick up or have shipped … good luck… danny

so I faxed em at 130 last night and called six people this morning to spread the story…

one called me back after calling f.h. and they told him no they dont sell blanx…

hmmmmmmmm

victimized by a joke or what?

Howzit Brother Brose, I talked to Dutch yesterday afternoon and Calrk has asked them to sell off the remainder of the inventory in the warehouse and the 2 containers that arrived the other day. So in a sense Fiberglass HI is not selling blanks but they are going to be in charge of selling Clarks inventory. It’s a matter wording, ask the right question to get the right answer. Aloha,K

i sure hope my fax was not misconscrewed

do I gotta fax the clark phone too?

alebit,aloha to the blank fairies

trolls and grinches may they smile on my lil’ol order…

,ambrose,

holy no blanks no mo batman…

All I know is the guys at FG Hawaii told me on tuesday that they were NOT selling any blanks to little guys like me . They would be saving their recently recieved container load for the big boys here on Maui. Lowel

Then the “little” boys should find a new supplier and never go back.

why would you do that? behind Channel islands, FH was the biggest buyer/supplier of clark blanks, so that the “little guy” could shape at a reasonable price.

and about the never selling blanks thing…

the oahu shop does not sell clark foam blanks, never did, because clark has a distribution center there, where he did his own business, he didnt need FH selling blanks, and didnt want them to (on oahu).

but they now have control of the remaining blanks, but still arent “selling” them.

Howzit McDing, Totally different answer from Dutch on Thusday afternoon. Maybe depends on just how small your business is. I’ve been doing business with F.H. for about 25 years and I am going to make a blanks wish list and add my next materials order with it. Might give me a better chance of getting the blanks I want. Now if Clark was doing the doling out it might be a whole different ball game, they would probably put their big customers first and then the next smaller guys and the ones who don’t have an account with Clark would probably get nothing. I think with F,H. handling the sale things might be a little fairer.Aloha,Kokua

just how this will play out and when is an intrigue beyond belief.

like the shower in psycho

the music leading into the action

the suspense building to an incredible crescendo

can the violin section handle?

what if sombody were to squeek a string

would the orchestra stop and start over again?

…ambrose…

waiting to hear a squeeky string

Howzit Brother Brose, I hope you sent your wish list for blanks to F.H., I sent mine for a total of 24 blanks yesterday. Also there is a good chance that Rex has a container coming.Aloha,Kokua

Kokua------- I haven’t talked to Alberto since Monday and I am sure the situation changes daily. I have been intending to call back and see if it has. A few days before this all happened I bought a 3-stringer 9’9 that was discounted because of a few pookas. They had 2 or 3 others that I considered buying at a discount because they were damaged in shipping. I guess I should have. As I don’t have a shop right now and have only been doing epoxy repairs, I’m more or less at the bottom of the list. I should look at this like T Rowe Price or some wall street tycoon. There is probably a shop around on the Island that someone wants to get out of because of the Industry’s uncertain future. Just sitting there ready to go. Blue paint and florescent lighting. “Please take over my lease”. I’m gonna Call Alberto on Monday AM and see what’s up on both accounts. You are definitly right about the repair angle. I am going to raise my prices on all Polyester ding repair. Effective immediatly. No more fixin’ minah dings for a twelve pack of Coronas for da bruddahs. Lowel

I’ve been trying to piece together a story on this since the day after Black Monday. Things are in a constant state of flux (frustrating!). Case in point.

Was told that FH would be in control of the remaining stock of foam in the CF warehouse in Wahiawa, and would sell it on Monday. Went over there this morning, expecting a madhouse. I was the only guy there. One more guy came with his video camera, expecting some carnage too. I guess we didn’t get the memo.

This is the third-hand info part, so take it for what it’s worth. Afterwards, I heard that FH indeed will control the sales of the remaining blanks, including the ones that just arrived. However, my understanding is that FH is going to wait until all outstanding debts are paid back to FH/CF before going to the docks and paying for the “docking fees” (?) and taking custody of the foam. Afterwards, I was told they’ll try and distribute it “equitably,” probably only to people who had accounts (in good standing) with CF Hawaii.

Take it for what its worth. I’ll publish the article I wrote later. In the meantime, we had “broke board” conditions this weekend. I hope Aussie Clint Kimmins has a good board sponsor.

Howzit neosponge, The only way you can make an order for any of those blanks is to fax them your wish list with your name and ph#. A friend talked to Ted today and alot of the blanks will go to the big guys but since T&C and HIC use Austrailian blanks there shoud be some left for the little guys. I put my order in Saturday and talked to Dutch to find out if us outer island guys are getting any and he said yes. Having an account with them might help. Luckally I don’t owe them any money so I’m OK in that dept… It’s going to take a few days for them to unload and go through the inventory before they start selling them and I don’t think anyone will be able to go to the warehouse to buy but you will be able to pick them up after they tell you what you are going to be able to buy. Send your list and cross your fingers.I ordered 25 blanks and will be glad if I get half of them.Aloha,Kokua

Howzit Kokua, Thanks for the info. I’m not a shaper (always wanted to though), so I don’t have to put in an order. However, my friend is, including a couple boards for me. Btw, I’m from Kauai, Lihue boy that was a Brenneckes boogieboarder. Aloha!

Hey 808 guys, my computer shut down a week ago, i’m at the library now… going to show my face at fiberglass hawaii again, Dutch said that the situation is changing often, Clark had told them to not do anything as of last monday, Dutch said that they, fiberglass hawaii , should know what chark wants them to do by this friday… danny

Howzit dnick, I talked with Dutch Monday or Tuesday and he didn’t say anything to me about changes, but I might have talkes to him before Clark. Lets hope for the best, and keep us up to date.Aloha,Kokua

The last I heard is that no blanks will be distributed until January. I am not going to worry about it and just enjoy the holiday season.

Happy Holidays All!

Howzit UncleD, We have had a Clark blank supplier here on Kauai for a couple of years now who brings in containers full. He had a container on the way and some hows they have stopped it on Oahu and the supplier is mad and can’t figure how they can do this. I didn’t know a shipper ( Clark ) could do this, always thought if you ordered a container that it would arrive at it’s final destination and couldn’t be stopped by the shipper. It was already paid for. Aloha,Kokua

Aloha Kokua,

How was the shipment paid for? Charged to someone’s account?..if so, charged to accounts may be withheld. And if accounts are fully paid…then the container is due. Hopefully, you all on Kauai and other outer islands gets some blanks. Its a good thing Town&Country, HIC gets there blanks from australia. Hang in there!

Enjoy da Holidays!!!

P.S. I feel really bad for FGH, they have to deal with all those phone calls/faxes. Try being in Dutch’s shoes…not easy! Let alone the smaller full-time shapers…wondering if they will get “one” blank.

Imua

Onipa’a

Howzit manoa, Can’t really say if the container was charged or prepaid, will look into it. I know what you mean about Dutch, lastweeek I got several calls asking me to call him and see what was up and I told them I didn’t want to bother Dutch. But I made a fast call and told him I didn’t want to make the call but neede to know if the outer islands would receive any of the blanks and he said yes we would. Now we can only cross our fingers and hope.Aloha,Kokua
