When I was doing a lot of repair work I would tell people that I would charge extra if there was wax in a ding. Instead of putting wax in a ding for a quick fix just put a sticker over it.Aloha, Kokua
Plunge cut the section out with a dremel tool or even a board knife and resin in a foam plug with white gel coat then laminate over it. I don’t think there’s anyother way to get rid of the wax except to cut it out. Stickers (even duct tape – perish the thought) make a much better bandaid than wax! But cover them up right away foam acts like a sponge and once the water is in there it’s mighty tough to get out. Better Surfin, Rich
…if it’s a ding you get just before you go out in the water, and it’s not in a place where it’s going to cut you up,I would coat it with a thin layer of superglue. It seals it for the surf session, it dries quickly as long as it’s not too cold. You don’t need to remove it to fix the ding,it bondable to poly resin. This is in no means a long term repair,it just allows you to surf that day.You need to fix it before your next session. If stickers aren’t your thing try clear packing tape, you can also monitor you dinged area like a window. At any rate you need to fix the ding(s) as soon as possible, to reduce any long term damage. If you got another board to use,I would do that rather that exposing the open foam to saltwater. If you get sea water in your damaged area, rinse it out with fresh water, and let dry throughly. …Suncure is a good quick fix,but by the time I need to use it, the tube that I left in my truck has gone hard. …Again,I stopped using foam plugs for the most part,I prefer using foaming resin.A bit costly, but the results are outstanding.Herb

Gone Surfin’, Rich Put the duster on the sled and head for the beach breaks!
Tell us about foaming resin?? …It’s a two part liquid that you mix to make foam(polyurethane).Crystaliner in CostaMesa,Ca.carries it.You can create different densitities by playing with it a little. You guys can also get it in polystyrene, better known as styrofoam. This might be better than filling your cracks with putty. The urethane stuff is nice and white, like surfboard foam, where as the styro is a slight yellowly brown color when dry.Herb

I’ve got a couple of boards that I want to clean up a little and this stuff would save me a lot of time and give me a primo job. Thanks Herb! Rich

How about 5 minute epoxy for a quick ding repair. Just a thought. regards, Håvard
How about 5 minute epoxy for a quick ding repair. Just a thought.>>> regards,>>> Håvard …Yeah Havard, it’s works too!,but if it’s much over 1/8"thick and you mix it a little hot,it will exotherm on you(foam up).The quick epoxies work great on epoxy type boards as well.Herb
