removing many hairline scratches from red resin tinted board

oops !  Have just put a criss cross pattern of fine scratches down the full length of my board by using a wax comb that had some unseen grit in it !  Won`t effect the integrity of the board as they are not deep but are unsightly....started to remove them by using 1000 grade wet and dry sandpaper.  A very tiresome process ! However now I notivce that where

I have been there is a "smudge " mark of lighter red.  I am thinking is it better to call it quits at this point and simply put another hot coat over the deck ?

I looked up archives for this problem and found one solution of using a mix of resin ans styrene on a very this brush...but given the criss cross pattern I think might as well do another thin hotcoat

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Did you try polishing with polishing compound and a good wool bonnet on a power polisher after you sanded?

Put wax on and go surfing!! It's only a surfboard and aint gonna stay new forever !!

Thanks Balsa...tried this as soon as i read your advice...it did help...used car polish and cut compund. Set sander for lowest revs and took it steady.
