i have a 1960’s longboard that has been painted over, it was probably done in the 90’s to give the appearance of a new board, the paint has not been glassed in and can be chipped up from the edges where it was masked off. my question is what solution could i use to remove this layer of paint without damaging the original resin?
Lacquer thinner would probably do it, try a little and see. You have to let it set on the paint a bit, then use steel wool with gloves. You could also probably wetsand it off with 220, if you're going to re-gloss it. I'm sure there are probably paint strippers out there that would do the job as well. I don't know if anyone can give a definitive answer without knowing exactly what you have, but a little trial and error will likely show you the best route to take.
