Removing tail pads

Hi, I'm looking for some ideas as to the best way of removing tail pads.

I recently bought a surf tech twin fin with a tail pad thats too far forward. I've hacked the 'kick' portion off but it's left the glue and a thin portion of the pad behind.

I want to take the whole thing off, but think that i'm gonna be left with an utter mess...

Any advice, tips or ideas to aid a tidy removal are greatly welcomed.

Thanks in advance,

S

I use a hair drier to get a whole pad off cleanly, heat the gule and pull off slow.

But I don’t know if it would work in your situation.

Good luck, might need some sort of chemical remover??

How about acetone or goo be gone…

Lift a corner.  Soak a rag in solvent (turps).  Jam into gap.  Leave for a while.  Peel back section where glue is dissolved.  Repeat.  Hair dryer can help during the peeling phase, but be careful of initiating delams.

Use warm hair dryer and turps rag to get off residue.

I use the best glue in the business (Selleys Quick Grip) to hold down my pads and this works a treat, so the glue on pre-glued pads should be no obstacle.

Surftech boards are painted on the outside. Do not use Acetone or you will remove the paint. Beware of other solvents for the same reason. Test a small area before you make a big mess. I use a hair dryer....don't get crazy with the heat or you will have delam problems. Goo Gone or "orange" cleaners will work too.....

Thanks for the advice...and warnings!

I always wack really hot water on the tailpad. Then slide a ruler under there.

8" drywall mud blade for the foam, eagle one chrome polish/cleaner(comes in a metal can) for the sticky.I can do one in about 7 minutes.
