Surfboards are overated. I bequeath all my boards to some unfortunate soul, and pledge to only use fins from now on to propel and ride waves.
i am only kidding of course

Bill,
Yep. Agreed. But take my comments for their spirit, not their wording (which I think you are anyway :).
“Depends” is kind of my point.
Haven’t finished reading this thread but…
[]"The heavier board catches waves easier…To me a good thing. []The heavier board drops in a lot easier on the heavy offshore days which I prefer… []The heavier board is a lot more solid on the face of the wave…Less chatter… []The heavier board glides better on and through the wave… []The heavier board requires more skill to ride well… []The heavier board is different, and I really like being different… "
These are not “facts” Paul. Sorry.
light/heavy?
hey, don’t the tow in guys have tubes in their boards to add/subtract weight depending on the conditions?
what does that tell us then?
“DEPENDS”
thanks, my $.000002
“you know what? in the end, what does it really matter anyway? just try and have some @!#$ing fun…”
rob lion
don’t know who the f… rob lion is (sweet name though) but it seems an appropriate quote for this thread.
less bitching more tech knowledge, surely.
thanks for all the stuff everyone in this thread/forum has given me, but this thread isn’t exactly stimulating, anybody who didn’t know the answer was ‘depends’ just by looking at the title of this thread, well, i just don’t know what to say.
and anyway my two pence, they are overrated, not accusing anyone in particular of overrateation of light boards, but if you look at the amount of people flapping around in mushy wedges (which is a staple diet for many in south wales)not acheiving much (if they’re having fun then cool) certainly makes you think they might hold their light chips in bit too high of a regard, thats not to say we don’t have the waves for them, just most weekenders don’t bother.
anyway (wrote more than i intended) to summarise:
horses for courses,
stitch in time, saves nine
grass on the wicket, lets play cricket,
tom
wales? yo, bro! we need to talk. the mrs and i are seriously thinking about heading your way - yeah, here come the lookout! jokes - an would love to pick your brain…
pm me if you wouldn’t mind sharing some info
thanks a million.
oh yeah, i’, rob lion… for whatever that is worth(usually just strange looks…)
What the f…k kind of B.S. Chickensh…t thread is this? Who cares if someone has strong opinions and post them? Jeesh. Lighten up and have some fun. Drink beer. Surf. Get laid or something. Dang, the surf must be really sh…ty or something. Jeepers creepers! Mike
Rooster,
Now that is good advice! Needs to be inserted into a lot of the threads .
Best,
Herb
hey if you really want a heavy board try
hollow steel or maybe concrete
then you can say that you think those lighter boards are way overated
cuz yours takes the drop earlier on offshoredays
and cuts through the chop
i know
how bout a lead board
would that catch waves easier
