Resin drip/splatter

I am trying to do a resin drip similar to the attched pic.  I painted a piece of scrap PU foam and driped pigmented resin and it looks good but the drips a very thick (about 1/16").  Now the usrface rough from the drips and I don’t think it laminat well.  Any advice on how to this look and keep the surfece relatively smooth?

Thanks

…if its paint: tape the area, paint with the Green, then do the Pollock thing with the Black. You should dilute the paint a bit to use the spray gun.

if it s pigment in the resin: tape the deck to do a cut lap; you make the color at the same time you are laminating the bottom. Do the Pollock with the Black pigment, then laminate all the bottom with the Green; you can do it with the Green first too, but depends on the consistency of the Black pigment that do you have there.

just squeegee the excess off with a clean squeegee. paint or resin as long as you don’t overwork the area it will leave the surface smooth and the colors will stain and stay.

This looks to me as if it was done with epoxy. Thin out your resin in the microwave a little for the drips and lines and stains. Regular thciker coat right over the top. Pico said it best, squeegee away

Tough to see, I think if it were resin, the lines would be blurry.

Those look to be pretty sharp.

But my guess is tape bottom and deck, paint rails green, put some black paint in a cup, thicker the better.

Dip a tongue depressor in the cup and fling away!

That look is from a build up of paint on the stick,

It rolls off kinda stringy like.

Different from a paint brush.

Done that tons when that was the “look” (80’s).

Like stated above, Jackson Pollock style.

Im going to be investing in a spray gun soon. Tell me how it goes! Painting boards seems to open lots of doors.

Angus, where you located?

I airbrush boards for a living.

Painted many folks boards here.

My doors are always open to my Sways bros.

I love the Einstein board. Looks killer in black and white.

Im nowhere near you haha, 3000 miles away just south of Boston. Thanks for the offer man, means a lot to have somebody take interest in a backyarder like me.

Thanks everyone…I’ll try flinging the black with paint instead of resin
