resin eating foam?

I have heard that some resins eat foam?  I'm doing some ding repair and I have Suncure UV sanding resin.  I am going to be using this to mix in with some q-cell and when i'm out of that, some west system filler.  How do you know which resin is safe for contact with foam?

Thanks!

You have to know what kind of foam the board is made of. EPS will melt if polyester resin is used on it, whereas polyurethane foam won’t. Use only epoxy resin with EPS and any resin with polyurethane foam.

awesome, thanks! I'm just getting into shaping and ding repair and I'm getting the hang of ding repairs.  I just want to make sure I do everything right. thanks again!

If you are using suncure with q-cell i recommend that you at some MEKP to it just like you would with normal poly resin because what will happen is the top layer will harden creating a type of crust, and it doesn’t allow the UV rays to penetrate through to the center of the repair and you end up with uncured resin on the inside. Same goes for if you are using pigments with the UV resin, its always safer to add a little MEKP just to be sure.

If you have access to them, some of the urethane resins such as Resin-X work on EPS.

i'm working with polyurathane foam, resin and fiberglass cloth.  awesome i will be sure to use a hardener with the q-cell
