I’m looking to paint a colored nose patch on an old school longboard I’m currently glassing. It’s already hotcoated, so would some pigmented gloss resin do the trick? Thanks!

yes. i have done it before. works fine. add enough pigment and MEKP to get the job done.
this may help

Thanks man, gonna give it a go tomorrow. I just don’t feel comfortable with acrylic paint. Happy Thanksgiving!

What would be the difference between using sanding resin with pigment over sanded hotcoat (glossed over) and just using pigmented gloss? Is it preferable to do another glosscoat over either pigmented gloss or colored hotcoat? I did black pinlines with lam resin mixed with surfacing agent and a ton of catalyst; it seemed to work fine. Would gloss resin be better to use since it should be thinner?
codyguy,
gloss resin is thinner and lays down easier because of the added styrene. you can make your ownout of lam resin. I do around 4% SA and 10% styrene and kick it in about 10-15 min. add extra for pins and colored resin over hotcoats because there is pigment which will slow down cure time.you dont want your pins to run either so kick them FAST. also, because gloss resin lays out so thin, you need enough pigment to cover things up and not have light/dark patches on large areas. You need a clear gloss coat over top. sand off the wax from the colored gloss resin(pins or large areas) so that the gloss coat can bond.
Happy thanksgiving to you too hanlon!
hope this helps
