Resin Research Epoxy no go for Aussie public

Hi Huie -

No sarcasm intended.  You bitch, moan and blame the innocent about non-availability of RR epoxy and then state what a nightmare distribution would be.

I'm sure you can understand my confusion.

How many Aussie/New Zealanders does it take to hold one guy down anyway?

Well I opened up a can of worms here.

I think midgets blanks are the best there is and he will sell me one at a time if I want.

I only use EPS for SUP's because midget dont sell 11 x 30 x 5 blanks

I use epoxy because the pro's far out weight the cons for me, as in strength, ample lamination times and not stinking up my garage.

I am more than happy with Kinetics epoxy.

I just thought that RR being spoken of so highly, especially her on sway, would be nice to see just how good this stuff is.

Not to worry, Im happy to shop locally. Kinetics is only a couple of days away and if Lenny from Shapers is down this way, I dont pay freight

Midget is an 1 1/2 hrs away for blanks, cloth, tools, etc.

Fin boxes from Motivation around the corner and bunning for everything else is across the road.

Got it pretty good really.

Cheers

Oh yer.

Got shaping and glassing epoxy 101 DVD's if anyones interested.

Cheers

low blow johnmellor..."how many aussies/kiwi holding one bloke down"...are you insinuating something?

as I see it here, we have enough local eps and epoxy around to not even bother with the "god's gift of RR". Looks like the distributor has lost a few sales here anyway. personally im not using eps or epoxy so not to fussed (although may give it a shot in the future)...its simple can't get RR, dont care wont use it, ill use someone elses product and let them get the sale, and of course future sales if I like uing the epoxy system.

mds- you could always make a nice pendant for a necklace with those DVDs, Ive seen that done in the states before...great big silver disk hanging on the front of ya chest!! ps got ya msg re motivation will chek it out, ta mate!

is motivation boxes a copy of probox?. this would be a big shame imo

larry probox is a really nice guy.

well cant expect much less from an island of convicts!

i vote we sack america, steal all there eps and go into making movie sets

hollywood on the goldcoast!

as far as i know tho. in the movie business polyU is still king for foreground shots however

eps for cheaper backgrounds. interested to see what they blow there foam with. talking hundreds of of tonnes i imagine.

some kiwi company tried the whole sell the foam with the epoxy resin thing . as far as i can tell its was a storm in a teacup. no one want to be told what foam to use especially when its shitty eps.i think it was called kealahna. lots of wankery

as far as not selling to the little guys. it seems no one had a problem putitng the shits up fcs for it .but getting upset for questioning what rr is doing

i honestly dont care what i have to use either. seen plenty of 15 y old poly boards around in good nick . surfed pretty hard out as well. cheap ass west system and i can still make a lighter stronger board then most . not that i need too! plenty of good clear locally manufactured epoxy resins in NZ for over 20 years. nothing new. most of adtech auz recipes are nz recipes anyway. in fact anywhere you see people winning yahct races there will a be more then a few kiwis involved

Hey Silly

Motivation are not a copy of pro box.

The are a box designed by Col to take mainly home made fins.

They have a single long tab fitting with a screw setup similar to fcs.

Here is a link http://www.shapers.com.au/prod371.htm

Not a real good photo

They do fit fcs, shapers and a range of other fins but I use them for my own fins on my boards and for customers I generally use shapers fins. They are cheaper.

Dave Byrne in Wollongong

I'm in Shellharbour, about 20 min drive.

No website but Gregs RR website has a contact number for him.

New resin available soon here in NZ…

Paul, it will be available through Bryan in the next few weeks.

Solves our problems!

I could never find any problem with Kinetix, or than just the one hardener.

I did like the RR Fast Hardener though, it’s cold here. Aluzine fast snaps off even quicker. The Part A is too bloody thick though.

Kwick Kick sounds fun, I might be able to laminate a 2 foot long board at that speed  Love to try it for hotcoats and gloss though!

Why is it that the guys that have never used EPS and epoxy are the first ones to discount it's beneficial attributes to a surfboard?

For as forward thinking as Surfers think they are, most are still stuck back in 1945 technology.  Hell EPS and Epoxy are old technology now.

group hug?  LOL

Hi KK

Bryan's been saying that since November and every time I ring him it's another couple of weeks. Must be missing something here!

Anyone keen going together to bring in some RR to NZ?

I live in California...I pick up the phone , I call the dude...leave a message...a couple of days later the dude meets me in that parking lot next to the freeway....it's like a drug deal.....no Aussie's allowed.... Kiwis wait your turn...fast and easy...cash only...No BS....Who are you?....Right place right time....Ha ha ......It's all for fun........

karl rr and kinetix are virtually identical to use and appearence

The final result sounds the same Paul but getting there sounds like more work. Flipping within 3 hours with RR fast is pretty good compared to 7+ hours. And some users say you definitely have to scrub and wash between lam and filler with K, which I've never had to do with RR. But I don't appear to have a choice at the moment so will probably give it a go, or give AdTech a go.

Bryan has stock of Kinetix, and had laminated a board with the new AdTech resin before christmas.

So it has been formulated and tested, just waiting on stock, which has slowed down since the new year.

The resin sounds killer.

Maybe they’ll export it back to Oz

Kinetix is great.

I scrub the lam of RR also (never got my hands on addF, so maybe a different story) but thats just cos i’m paranoid and believe in best practice

Hey Guys

Just rang the Australian distributor for Resin Reserch epoxy to see if I could finally get hold of some to try.

He told me that it is only for recognised manufacturers and not for the general public and sold as a bundled package with Marko foam.

jezas h  c     m d s  get your facts straight  w ho the hell gave you that load of  shite  i just got off the ph from dave

both you & greg have named him here  with out the true facts     big kick up the bum for both off you

up to this shipment he did not have enough other than his regulars

& yes he does do a package with marko foam

but you should be able to get a 6 litre lot no prblem& if you all get in & order what you want before he puts his next order inn

it may well ease the load on him i can not see any prblms with dave being the agent.

my midget bias remains     my arrogance remark withdrawn  there was noneOuch

so bottom line fellas think ahead please

Hey huie

My facts are straight. Dave gave me that load of shit.

His exact words

"sorry mate, I can't help you. I only deal with recognised buisinesses and sell it as a bundled package with marko foam"

I asked him about small quantities and again he said

"sorry mate, can't help you"

Fact

Cheers

mds    please dont  continue baging someones buisness  **on a public forum **

my jousting with greg is in no way endangering his sales.  but dave byrne gets perceived as an elitist

**heres the deal  a kit of about 3 gal    11.37 litre is about min    who would want to try to pack it down into little pints **

theprice is comparable to kinetix.       he will have some in about two weeks

so if ya all get off ya fat arses shoot him an email order your stuff in advance      the logistics are not that easy.

**& remember if you want to use kk in our winter get inn  & order it early
**
