Lots of pictures to oggle = good
hope it inspires you mate ?
knowing your aversion to ‘swirls’ …yes , a “marbled” effect would be nice on a fin panel , in answer to your pm earlier …
it might be the next effect I try in a fin panel , perhaps …once I run out of “tartan” fabric to complete my other quad sets , that is !
ben
Put your Schoolgirls Dress fabric one up too…
(I know you only used the cloth because you outgrew it!!!)
The photo of that tartan material panel , and canard fin , is already done , mate ! (see: “post #35” , on page 2 of this very thread…)
cheers ,
ben
Wood next I think.
…or…
how about the fabric inlay ones , instead , Kai ?
After three layers of 6oz was layed up…

then , about 24 clear layers over the top …

You want photos of my wood?
Didn’t you get another thread locked with photos of some very pointy nipples…

“…no photos , please Kai”
…photos please…
You are blowing my mind!!!
…finished panel [coated with a layer of filler coat [‘hotcoat’]…
these are the rollers I use …
I find having at least THREE of them is handy , as while one soaks in acetone , there is always another one or two available for use. This will prove VERY useful , the next time I decide to make a two or three coloured fin [as in , every five or so layers a different colour]
cheers ,
ben

so, these fabric inlay fins from this latest panel will be a slightly smaller version of the existing ones I made previously , so I can ride my "quad’’ with four very similar sized and templated fins …
to be continued …
cheers ,
ben
great work ben, thanks for sharing.
you’re very welcome mate !
get some great waves up the coast , you lucky man !
and I hope you have some photos to share on your return …“waves” , “photos please” , or "share the stoke " threads …
have a great time Nathan !
ben
[I bet the whole time you’re away , you’ll be thinking about the deck of your quad , the fins , and “I wonder how that board would have gone in these waves” , won’t you ?
[yep … these “creative types” …I know a few !!]

good one Jimi
…got any more please ?
cheers ,
ben
anyone else got some pics of your resin swirl fins , please ?
cheers
ben
…this just in !!
thanks , Reverb , for sending me these shots , of ones you made nearly ten years ago .
[they would go well with some of the cosmic theme airbrushes Peter St. Pierre does , I reckon]
… cheers mate for those !
ben

Okay …
So, I finally got myself a new carborundum blade for my jigsaw , and cut the edges off the resin swirl and the fabric inlay panels . [My curiousity to see what the " inside" swirly layers would look like got the better of me]
here’s a couple of shots , for those who like seeing stuff more than reading about it …
…by a ‘happy accident’ [?oxymoron?] , the edges outside the fin panel are on an angle , so I am thinking I can maybe make some very small bonzer runners [cant built in], from this panel …
