retro dreamin'

since I’ve been unable to get to my shapin’ shack for awhile, I’ve been dreamin up my next boards. The pretender is one, in my “maybe” thread, and here’s another.

Don’t have a model name for this one yet. But I’m kinda hankerin’ for an old school single fin, maybe widowmaker. No down rails except in the tail, no concaves. The pinched kinda hullish cross section is what I’m leaning towards. V in the tail, belly in the nose, low rockered affair.

I do have a blank, which mcding gave me for a song, and it just needs a stringer.

I was about to recommend a single fin on the “maybe” thread.

good going !

thats all I have, a stringer. I used some thin plywood I had laying around, so I pre-shaped the stringer, cuz its easier to do now before I glue it up in the blank. The stringerless blank has a pretty different rocker but hopefull will cooperate when I glue it up.

I just kinda freehanded what I wanted then used a couple stringer templates I had around and fudgeed them to get what I wanted. A bit of blending with the sanding block along the way, pretty happy with it now.

This is going to be a big step.

Yew!

Right now i have the stringerless blank between 2 supports with weight on it to try to take out some of the rocker in the middle before I attempt to glue the stringer in.

They have 1/8" Sanderly Ply at the Depot now. Looks just like the 1/8" Ply stringers being used by Millennium and Arctic. Cheap $$$$ too.
