rice paper for logo

i have read on here in a couple places that if you want to design your own logo you can use rice paper. Well would i just get this a local print shop, and then would it be best to just let them print it or should i try and use my own printer. Also is this really the best technique

I get my rice paper from a art supply store. In my area the one I go to is called Michaels. They have big roles of it.

I use my computer printer. Was using a Cannon but found that the ink faded pretty quick. So I went to a printer that uses Archival ink (Epson R800) with much better results.

I went to Michaels and i didn’t see it there. What section is it in? And is it calle d"rice paper or does it have a different name?

Thanks

I had to ask someone to find it for me as it was tucked away on a bottom shelf. But is a link to the same stuff that Michaels has exsept this is misterart.com

awsome im on my way tomorrow to get some. i have acess to a pretty good printer so that should be fine. any tips on the logo itself (stay away from thin lines etc.)

also should i trim it up or just leave it as a sheet

With the logo just keep in mind the rice paper goes transparent so no ink means it will be clear. Also, Putting it on color can can effect the way it comes out and on some darker colors I find that you can fainlty see the rice paper.

I usually trim mine down a bit so I am just dealing with less when I apply them. It can also be a challenge to feed the rice paper through a printer. I tape it to heavy matte paper to get it to go through.

I’ve only done this once, but I got my paper from Figerglass Hawaii and followed the guidelines listed on the foamez page:

http://foamez.com/store/productDetails.cfm?prodID=84&prodIDCat=51

it suggested taping the ricepaper to a sheet of printer paper and sending

that all through the paper together. I then trimmed my logo down as much

as possible, but I don’t know if that was needed, but the idea was to

minimize what was in the laminate and might cause a lam weakness.

I had my logos printed through offset printing! It is not that expensive, at least here in portugal! I payed approximatly 1 dollar per A4 sheet (with 4 logos in each sheet), in a total o 50 sheets! So it was 50 bucs for 200 logos!

In UK or Ireland go to Seabase, A4 paper for use with inkjet printer and then pop under glass. Very simple, and cheap.

U can also get rice paper/logo paper from surfsource out of FL, its 40 cents a sheet and works excellent, I use it on all of my boards. There website is www.surfsource.com.
